How do you classify chemical compounds on the basis of source?

Classification of Chemical compounds:

There are two main classes of Chemical compounds.

  1. Organic compounds

2. Inorganic compounds

They are classified on the basis of the source from which they were derived.

Organic compounds:

The compounds which were of plant or animal origin are known as organic compounds.

Examples:

  1. Acetic acid (from vinegar)

2. Alcohol (from wine)

Inorganic compounds:

The compounds which were of mineral origin are known as Inorganic compounds.

Examples:

1.Table salt

2.Marble

3.Carbon dioxide
