Electronic Configuration for Lithium (Li) – Atomic Number #3 – Digital Kemistry

How to Write Electronic Configuration for Lithium(Li)

Lithium (Li) has atomic number 3 and mass number 6.941 .

Since the lithium has three electrons around the nucleus of an atom .Therefore, lithium electronic configuration is very simple and easy to write.

Electronic configuration of Lithium (Li) = 1s2 2s1

As we know that the first shell (K-shell) has only one s-subshell and the second shell (L-shell) has 2s and 2p subshell .

s-subshell can accommodate a maximum of 2 electrons so the 2 electrons in Lithium atom fill in 1s subshell and the remaining one electron occupy 2s subshell.
