How to find Oxidation Number | Oxidation state determination | Compound and Ion
Oxidation state
Also known as oxidation number.
It is defined as an apparent charge on an atom or group ,which it would have in a compound.
In this video we discuss how to calculate the oxidation number of an element in a compound and in an ion.
Examples to find the oxidation number of an element Mn in KMnO4,Cr in K2Cr2O7, N in HNO3 , S in H2SO4 , O in SO4 ion, N in NH4 ion.
